Overview

Hirosaki Castle, also known as Takaoka Castle or Takaoka Castle, is popular among castle enthusiasts. Hirosaki Castle was the castle of the Tsugaru clan, the Hirosaki clan that controlled the Tsugaru region during the Edo period. There is a bronze statue of Tamenobu Tsugaru, the lord of the castle built in the Meiji era, in the main keep, and it has become a tourist spot for tourists. It is a popular tourist spot that has been selected as one of Japan’s top 100 castles and is also designated as an important national cultural property.

The “Fujita Memorial Garden” adjacent to Hirosaki Park was built by Kenichi Fujita, a native of Hirosaki City who left a legacy in the development of Hirosaki City. The vast site of approximately 6,600 tsubo is divided into a highland area and a lowland area, and includes a Western-style building, a Japanese-style building, an archeological building (Craft & Japanese Cafe Takumikan), a teahouse (Shofutei), etc.
